Frequently Asked Questions
How does the process work?
You must first place an order with items of interest to be created. From there I will provide shipping instructions for your dried flowers, and reach out with some questions and begin the design process. Once I have received your flowers, I will dry them (if they are not already dried) and begin creating your custom items. I work with you every step of the way to ensure your mementos are made as expected! Please note all flowers dry differently, and it will take several weeks to create your items. Orders will be cancelled if flowers are not received within 30 days.

How many flowers do you need to create my keepsake item?
This really depends on what you would like made. A single bead would only need about one rose petal (or comparable amount of petal). My suggestion is to send as much material as you are willing to spare - I will return any unused flowers to you.

My flowers are old. Can you still use them?
Yes! It doesn't matter if your flowers are recently dried, or have been dried for years. As long as they are dry, I can use them to create your special items.
How do I dry my flowers?
My recommendation is to store them in a cool, dry place to air dry. You can either hang them upside down or lay flat- it really just depends on the final look you would like them to have. The drying process can take several weeks to complete - don't rush it! Thicker flowers like Roses and Ranunculus will take longer than something flatter like a Daisy.

Another option is using Silica gel. this involves laying the flower heads gently in a tote and layering Silica gel around them. This process is quicker (usually 2-4 weeks) and the colors tend to stay more vibrant than air drying.

I offer drying services if fresh flowers are received within 7 days, using the method of your preference as listed above.

Will the colors of my flowers change?
Yes, in most instances the colors will change as the flowers dry. Oranges, pinks and blues tend to stay fairly true to color. Reds and purples will darken. White flowers tend to turn brown and are not recommended for the preservation work. Utilizing Silica Gel during the drying process can help maintain some of the original colors, but you should still expect some change.

Are there any types of flowers that won't work?
Yes. Any type of berry, tropical flowers, Orchids, or succulents tend to not dry well - they will turn brown and mushy. Please remember each flower is unique and I cannot guarantee all will dry successfully.
What materials do you use?
I work with both Epoxy Resin and Polymer Clay for my designs. They offer unique looks - resin is more clear and glass-like, while the clay has a milky-white look. It is important to note that resin will naturally yellow over time - avoiding prolonged sun exposure will slow this process. Because these products are made with natural flowers, some fading of the petal colors is expected over time.
